terrestris – WebGIS im Intra-/Internet, DesktopGIS sowie Geodatenmanagement mit freier und OpenSource-Software

  • Open Source

    What is Free Software?

That’s easy: Software you are allowed to use, modify and improve without restrictions for your purposes! And without cost for the software itself. Nevertheless appropriate licenses protect you and the continuity of the software.

    What is OpenSource Software?

Basically OpenSource only means that the source code of the software is accessible with the latter not necessarily licensed under a free license (see above).

    terrestris and OpenSource

We don’t only use Free Software but are also a part of it. terrestris employs core developers of the WebGIS-client components OpenLayers, GeoExt and GXM. We are also involved in the MapFish project as well as in the national and international communities.

The advantage for the customer is obvious: Adaptations of the software can be directly integrated instead of tagging along as project solutions as the versions proceed. We are among the first to know about new developments and trends and can use this knowledge also for customer projects.
