GeoExt

GeoExt 1.1 combines the desktop-like user-interface of ExtJS with the many possibilities and interaction with geographic data that OpenLayers provides.

With GeoExt one can develop applications that are technically demanding and optically pleasing. Due to the modularity of the GeoExt framework it is easy to adapt to future demands and to integrate new functionality. On the client side GeoExt uses OpenLayers and adds to its’ functionality with modules of its own. As a standalone application GeoExt can be easily configured with a few parameters.

A web mapping client based on GeoExt can be easily integrated into a Content-Management-System (CMS). With the help of ExtJS and OpenLayers GeoExt can be used to implement other Web 2.0 functionality. GeoExt 2.0 GeoExt is currently based on Ext JS 3. The API of ExtJS 4 is different from preceding versions. To give GeoExt users the benefit of the new ExtJS-functionalities GeoExt has to be updated. To reach this goal there will be a codesprint in the spring of 2012 with the aim of developing GeoExt 2.0 based on ExtJS 4.
