Who we are and what we do
The company terrestris GmbH & Co. KG is a spin-off from the University of Bonn and is specialised in the development and implementation of open-source web technologies for geographical information systems. Another focus is on using wireless sensor networks (WSN) for real-time geodata acquisition. Applications encompass environmental monitoring, tourism, ensurance industry and recycling management.
terrestris has a broad experience in developing spatial data infrastructures (SDI), is co-organiser of the FOSSGIS conference and takes part in the regional project ‘GeoDatenInfrastruktur des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (GDI NRW)‘. In addition we maintain close contacts with the international Open Sorce GIS Community through participation in the FOSS4G conferences and the OSGEO.
terrestris is mainly active in german speaking Europe but also in Spain and Denmark. Apart from these regions terrestris has successfully completed projects in Africa and the Middle East.
