The company terrestris

Who we are and what we do

terrestris GmbH & Co. KG was founded as a spin-off of the University of Bonn in 2002. Since then terrestris has specialized in the development and implementation of open source web technologies for geographical information systems.

Our focus is on using wireless sensor networks (WSN) for real-time geodata acquisition and developing spatial data infrastructures (SDI). We develop user friendly WebGIS applications that are also optimized for mobile devices.
We provide support for open source GIS and offer an individual training program on spatial data infrastructures, web technologies and open source GIS as well.
We primarily operate in the German speaking area, but also realized projects in Denmark, Spain, Africa and the Middle East.

terrestris is a member of the OGC and co-organizer of the FOSSGIS conference. We maintain close contacts with the international Open Source GIS Community through the OSGEO and participate regularly in the FOSS4G conferences. At regional level we’re taking part in the project “GeoDatenInfrastruktur des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen” (GDI NRW).
