FOSSGIS 2012: The arrival or “free software, free flowing traffic!”

FOSSGIS Logo 2012 Yesterday 4 people from terrestris set out for the pretty town of Dessau where this years FOSSGIS conference will take place. While @sevenspatial was twittering about the the customary delays of the Deutsche Bahn the terrestris-team was able to tweet about free flowing traffic. After arriving at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences we deposited our gear and were able to attend to last minute organisational issues. After a little walk through Dessau members of the local organising committee met with some FOSSGIS participants in the brewery “Zum alten Dessauer”. There we met Andreas Hocevar from our partner company OpenGeo and were able to discuss last details of our joint workshop. You can visit the following workshops by terrestris and OpenGeo during FOSSGIS 2012:
  • Introduction to the JavaScript map library OpenLayers
  • Mobile GIS WebApps with GeoExt Mobile (GXM)
  • Introduction to Rich Map Clients with GeoExt
  • Introduction to the OpenGeo Suite
  • Simple raster data processing with GDAL
UPDATE: Currently the workshop “Introduction to the JavaScript map library OpenLayers” with Marc Jansen and Andreas Hocevar is underway. We would like to congratulate the technical team from the organisers for the excellent preparation of the workshop venue. During the FOSSGIS, which will open officially at 13:00 h, the terrestris-Team will keep you posted here with a daily update.
